The Story Behind the Dish

📍 Lebanon and the Levant📅 Centuries old🥙 LB

Hummus bi tahini, chickpeas blended with sesame paste and lemon, has been eaten across Lebanon, Syria and Palestine for centuries, scooped up with warm flatbread. Lebanon even set a world record for the largest plate of hummus.

The bento-box idea comes from Japan, where lunch is packed in little sections. Together they make a lunch children can build themselves: dip, scoop and crunch.

⭐ Why It's Famous

Hummus is one of the world's favourite dips, packed with plant protein and fibre.

💡 Fun Fact

In 2010 Lebanese chefs made a plate of hummus weighing over 10 tonnes, a Guinness world record.
