History & Culture

The Story Behind the Dish

📍 Mexico and California📅 1980s (the wrap)🥑 MX

The wrap grew out of the Mexican burrito and the flour tortillas of northern Mexico. In California in the 1980s, cafés started filling big tortillas with salads and grilled chicken, and the lunch wrap was born.

Avocado, native to Mexico, is the perfect partner: creamy instead of mayonnaise, full of good fats, and loved by most children.

⭐ Why It's Famous

Wraps are one of the easiest ways to pack a balanced lunch in one hand-held roll.

💡 Fun Fact

Avocados don't ripen on the tree; they only start softening after they're picked.
