Make the sauce
Warm the olive oil in a small pan over low heat, add the garlic and cook about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, grated carrot and oregano, then simmer gently for 5 minutes, stirring now and then, until it thickens into a spreadable sauce.
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small clove garlic
- 200 g crushed tomatoes
- 1 small grated carrot
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
✅ C'est prêt quand : sauce is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon

Dice the veggies finely
Chop the bell pepper, zucchini and cherry tomatoes into very small pieces, about the size of rice grains. Small pieces cook through fully in the short baking time and are easier and safer for little mouths to chew.
- 1 small red bell pepper
- 1 small zucchini
- 5 cherry tomatoes
✅ C'est prêt quand : all pieces are about 5 mm / 1/4 in or smaller

The Story Behind the Dish
Pita bread has been baked and eaten across Greece for generations, usually as a wrap for souvlaki or gyro, or torn to scoop up dips like tzatziki and melitzanosalata. Turning small pita rounds into mini pizza bases is a newer home-kitchen idea, born from Greek families looking for a quick, cheerful way to use up leftover pita and get children eating more vegetables.
⭐ Why It's Famous
Because tomato, cheese and olive oil are pantry staples in any Greek kitchen, these little pitas pizzas use familiar Mediterranean flavours in a shape and size that small children find easy and fun to eat, with no fuss and almost no cleanup.
💡 Fun Fact
In Greece, pita is baked without a pocket, unlike the Middle Eastern pita many people know, which is exactly what makes it sturdy enough to hold a pizza topping without falling apart.
